Open Program in Tuzla, Bosnia

Knowing self and others: a key to successful communication

During the lecture
Nolan and Sandra Sharp trying "boza"
In the beginning of March of 2011 Wave Projects in cooperation with NGO Fokus from Croatia organized an excellent two day workshop with the guest lecturer mr.sc. Nolan Sharp, USA. The workshop tackled issues of relationships in workplace, families, college and other.
Our biggest limitation in all programs is size of venue where the program is held and it was a limiting factor this time as well. The church facility was packed with Wave participants and even more people came on the second day of workshop.
This workshop opened Wave Open Program 2011 season and gave an excellent boost to new discussions, dealing with new issues, as well as motivated our team and participants to start thinking about new involvements in the local community.

Wave trip across the Balkans!

Snow storm in the beginning of the trip

At the end of February, beginning of March 2011 Wave team members from Croatia, Bosnia and England went on a trip across the Balkans. The trip started in Bosnia during a snow storm. At the time we were anxious and it looked like we would have a lot of technical problems while travelling in the Balkans. In spite of the snow storm startup – the trip turned out to be an amazing experience!

Here are some of the highlights of the trip:

Visit to friends in Leskovac, southern part of Serbia

In Leskovac Wave team visited friends and made new friendships where we talked about possibility of organizing Wave Open programs in the future.

Visit to Skopje and Strumica, Macedonia
Visit to Strumica
One of the executive team members attended the 6th International Youth Leadership Forum as Wave representative. During the forum he had meetings with future Wave volunteers and teachers.
The other part of Wave team went to Strumica where we had chance to have time with our friends. We attended a youth group meeting and the church service. Our friends showed interest in organizing Wave programs in the future.

Visit to Petrich, Bulgaria

In Petrich Wave executive member had a meeting with team from Bulgaria and England and worked on preparations for Wave English course in May 2011.

Visit to Mitrovica, Kosovo
In Kosovo Wave team organized Open program with friends from Mitrovica. During the visit Wave team had meetings with the deputy major of the city, visited friends working for the National Democratic Institute, visited Kosovo Leadership Academy…

There were many expected and unexpected highlights of the trip! We were amazed that, in spite of technical difficulties of traveling by car for over 2.100kn in only five days, a lot of new opportunities opened up. The most wonderful highlights are usually unexpected ones --- during the visits to some places we did not expect to organize any program, nevertheless we were asked about possibilities to partner with other churches and organizations and organize Wave programs in their cities in the future. This was an amazing trip and soon we realized that we’ll have to plan another trip soon!
