Wave team is preparing gifts for the orphanage

We are excited about preparing gifts for the kids in the orphanage! During the last six months of serving the children through helping with school work and preparing them for the exams our team has experienced many things (many of which cannot be shared with the public). The work with children has shown the first results! Kids that work with us have improved their grades in school and the team is happy to reward the hard work with the gifts for the holidays.
We thank all the people who helped in providing the gifts for those that are in the greatest need!
Wave team is not stopping here! We are continuing to look for ways to help the kids to have a good future.

Great two days in Subotica

Last weekend Wave team members from Croatia, Bosnia and Hungary gathered in Subotica, Serbia where Wave Projects organized the Open Program. We organized a two day seminar “Knowing self and others: a key to successful communication” that was held by mr.sc. Nolan Sharp, USA/Croatia. It was excellent! There were over a hundred Wave participants and guests. During the lectures team members and the participants discussed relationships that they have with one another and different ways of solving conflicts with people who are different than them. It was the first Open program after the intensive course in October and it is an excellent start of discussions and programs that will continue in 2012.

Amazing time during the Wave gathering

Recently Wave organized an international gathering in Tuzla, Bosnia. It was an amazing time where team members, partners and guests from eight countries visited Tuzla and talked about Wave future in Bosnia and other countries.

During the conference we also organized serving in the orphanage, English classes, IT classes, Wave teams meetings, church services, workshops and an Open Program with a panel that hosts speakers from Ukraine and the US. After the Open Program until late in the evening our team members were discussing how to bring changes in our society. The church building was full and we had people standing in the corridors during the Open Program.

Here are some things our guests said:

I’ve been riding the Wave for the last few days my first visit to Bosnia. What a great experience! The English classes, orphanage service and all the other events are impacting the lives of more and more people. The family atmosphere Wave creates – by loving and accepting everybody – is magnetic! Catch the Wave! You won’t regret it!
Chris, Hungary

Wave is awesome! Thanks so much for the privilege of participating in the Wave project. You’re doing a great job, transforming lives in Tuzla. Keep up the good work!!
Scott, Ukraine / USA

Great Open Program in Subotica

Amazing week is taking place! Yesterday we organized the best Open Program until now. Besides lectures, presentations and serving, Wave international team also had a powerful skit that equally left the team members and the participants speechless and with tears in eyes. A big number of the participants approached to our team members after it and talked about meaning in life and how to find solutions in difficult life circumstances. Afterwards number of them also attended the church service with us.

Wave in Subotica keeps surprising us!

It is amazing to see the results of Wave after only one week of intensive serving in Serbia! The participants are enjoying the program so much that they are staying with us long hours in the church facility. The participants feel so comfortable that they started joining us in serving each other instead of waiting for us to serve them. They love the atmosphere and the idea of serving others. Several participants also expressed desire to attend the church service, and some of them already want to become the church members. We are amazed with things happening in Subotica and it is only the first week! Another miracle is happening right in front of our eyes!

Wave teams were planning to slow down our program during the summer… but it’s impossible!

Wave teams in different countries were working hard to make “the slowest” possible program over the summer break (August and the beginning of September). However, after we checked our “slowed” schedules, we realized that Wave will have programs in 7 countries; will work with around 200 participants in different programs; teams from two new countries will come to Wave Center in Tuzla to learn about Wave programs, so that they can organize it in their countries; Wave team members will be active in other projects; Wave team will visit several countries to present Wave program; orphanage team will continue to work with kids in orphanage and Wave humanitarian program will continue to collect gifts for Africa, Pakistan and the kids in orphanage. We hope that all Wave team members will enjoy their “slow” summer.

Wave Open Program Tour

This summer Wave Open Program with prof. Meic Pearse took place in several countries in the Balkans. Prof. Meic Pearse got his doctorate on Oxford University and now teaches in Hougton College, NY where he leads honors program “East Meets West”. His most famous book is “Why the rest hates the West” and it was presented in front of the US president and the senate. During the Open Program Tour dr. Pearse held lectures on various topics (education, politics and reconciliation) which led to long lasting discussions and new ideas. We are already planning the next tour with a different speaker this fall.

They participated in Wave program for one week and everyone is wishing that they stayed for at least two weeks! Our team members, participants and local church had a great time with team from Ireland!

Open Program in Tuzla, Bosnia

On 23rd of April Wave Projects organized an Open program with guest speaker dr. Scott Boldt. He held a lecture “Think outside the box: transform the conflict”. Although it was a humid day and although we had a week with lots of different programs, the church building was full of participants and team members attending the lecture. Dr. Boldt talked about heated topic of how to transform conflicts on both personal and social levels. Everyone was challenged to view conflict as an opportunity rather than a problem. It was excellent topic that led to great discussions after the lecture.

IRISH NIGHT – Open house day in Wave Center, Bosnia

Open Program in Tuzla, Bosnia

Knowing self and others: a key to successful communication

During the lecture
Nolan and Sandra Sharp trying "boza"
In the beginning of March of 2011 Wave Projects in cooperation with NGO Fokus from Croatia organized an excellent two day workshop with the guest lecturer mr.sc. Nolan Sharp, USA. The workshop tackled issues of relationships in workplace, families, college and other.
Our biggest limitation in all programs is size of venue where the program is held and it was a limiting factor this time as well. The church facility was packed with Wave participants and even more people came on the second day of workshop.
This workshop opened Wave Open Program 2011 season and gave an excellent boost to new discussions, dealing with new issues, as well as motivated our team and participants to start thinking about new involvements in the local community.

Wave trip across the Balkans!

Snow storm in the beginning of the trip

At the end of February, beginning of March 2011 Wave team members from Croatia, Bosnia and England went on a trip across the Balkans. The trip started in Bosnia during a snow storm. At the time we were anxious and it looked like we would have a lot of technical problems while travelling in the Balkans. In spite of the snow storm startup – the trip turned out to be an amazing experience!

Here are some of the highlights of the trip:

Visit to friends in Leskovac, southern part of Serbia

In Leskovac Wave team visited friends and made new friendships where we talked about possibility of organizing Wave Open programs in the future.

Visit to Skopje and Strumica, Macedonia
Visit to Strumica
One of the executive team members attended the 6th International Youth Leadership Forum as Wave representative. During the forum he had meetings with future Wave volunteers and teachers.
The other part of Wave team went to Strumica where we had chance to have time with our friends. We attended a youth group meeting and the church service. Our friends showed interest in organizing Wave programs in the future.

Visit to Petrich, Bulgaria

In Petrich Wave executive member had a meeting with team from Bulgaria and England and worked on preparations for Wave English course in May 2011.

Visit to Mitrovica, Kosovo
In Kosovo Wave team organized Open program with friends from Mitrovica. During the visit Wave team had meetings with the deputy major of the city, visited friends working for the National Democratic Institute, visited Kosovo Leadership Academy…

There were many expected and unexpected highlights of the trip! We were amazed that, in spite of technical difficulties of traveling by car for over 2.100kn in only five days, a lot of new opportunities opened up. The most wonderful highlights are usually unexpected ones --- during the visits to some places we did not expect to organize any program, nevertheless we were asked about possibilities to partner with other churches and organizations and organize Wave programs in their cities in the future. This was an amazing trip and soon we realized that we’ll have to plan another trip soon!

On the 4th and 5th of March in Tuzla Wave organizes a two day workshop: “Knowing yourself and others: a key to successful communication”. Guest lecturer is mr.sc. Nolan Sharp, USA.

Miracle in Tuzla, Bosnia is continuing!

The biggest intensive Wave
Course  in the smallest facility

The Intensive English Course in Tuzla finished recently. It was another miracle that happened in Wave! We could not believe that we could host the biggest number of people until now in the smallest facility where Wave project takes place!

Besides the biggest number of university students, the biggest guest team and amazing open programs, we also had wonderful conclusion of the intensive Wave course. During the course started an initiative to help orphanage in Tuzla where our university students offered to help kids with their homework and studying for school. We are thrilled that our students that are taking English lessons free of charge want to give back to their society by helping those that are in need.
Time after classes
Besides the biggest number of people during the single Wave project, we also have the biggest number of participants during Wave project that takes place throughout the whole year. Wave initiative continues its work with lots of lecturers, teams and guests throughout 2011!
