New Year’s Eve in Wave Centre

Wave Projects organized celebration of New Year's Eve in Wave Centre in Bosnia. It was celebrated it with our team members from Bosnia and Serbia, as well as with some of our Wave participants. Wave teams are getting ready for new challenges in Year 2011!

Breaking the cycle of discrimination, Bosnia

During the lecture
In November 2010 Wave Projects organized the lecture “Breaking the cycle of discrimination” that was held by Mihaela Kovacs, social worker from Romania. All the participants loved the guest lecturer and they were challenged to learn from Romanian example and Mihaela’s experiences. Since Mihaela left Tuzla Wave participants are asking when will she come back to teach another lesson!
Part of the open program was also presentation “What I can do for Africa” by rev. Richard Brunton from the UK. The presentation gave a great insight into African culture and problems that they are facing today. As a result of that presentation we are happy to see that some of our participants decided to support the project of collecting humanitarian aid for DR Congo.

THE REGIONAL CONFERENCE

Participants of the conference
From November 11th to 13th was organized regional conference in Subotica, Serbia. It was amazing to have a very diverse group of participants in leadership positions from Serbia, Hungary, Romania, Bosnia, Croatia, Poland, Bulgaria and the UK. Besides great and very practical lectures on Leadership that were held by rev. Richard Brunton, we also had presentations from different countries held by people who are working on various programs in Poland, Romania and Croatia. During the conference we also had exciting visit to the church in Subotica where we organized Wave English Course and where our team from Subotica is organizing Wave Follow up Programs.

Lecture on Personal Stability
We were amazed by great response to the lecture in psychology “In search of personal stability” that was held as part of Wave Open program in Subotica, Serbia. It was great to see a large number of guests that attended the lecture. Several listeners who heard this lecture in Croatia several months ago said that it was ten times better this time! Participants had many questions and wanted to speak more about the topic after the lecture.

MIRACLE IN SUBOTICA, SERBIA!

The biggest Wave course until now!
In October 2010 Wave Projects organized the two weeks English Course in Subotica, Serbia. We were especially surprised when we heard local radio station releasing information about Wave English Course on news! For a long time we did not know who released the news on the radio since we’re advertising only through posters. Later on we found out that one person who applied to the Course decided to share that information with the public.

Time after class
From the very start when we organized the course we felt that everything about this course was a miracle! Besides the biggest number of participants and team members, we also had the best facilities until now – but even that was a limiting factor. We had program through all day and sometimes we had to have 3 groups at the same time due to the biggest number of participants: the largest group was meeting in a wonderful chapel, the second one in the top story where we normally have snacks for participants and the third one was meeting in the basement (in a room used for child care during the church services). In every way it was the biggest Wave Course so far and it was a miracle from the start!
Wave Follow up in Subotica

Encouraged by wonderful experience during the course, our team from Subotica decided to continue with the classes throughout the whole year! Now they are organizing English lessons for all the levels every week.

Education in the East and the West, Bosnia

Time after the lecture
This summer we had a distinguished visitor Dr. Meic Pearse Why the rest hates the West who held a great lecture in the field of education: Education in the East and the West. It was revealing to hear conclusions from a professor who is teaching in both eastern and western universities about advantages and disadvantages of both educational systems. There was great interest in the lecture especially among the students.

Follow up Program in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina

One of the trips /Follow up in Bosnia
This year Wave Projects started with something new: Wave Follow up program. We decided to start with Follow up program when we realized that after every Wave Course participants ask us to organize longer programs and always complaining that time with us is too short. From the beginning of this year Wave is not taking place only for two weeks per year, but throughout the whole year with English lessons, guest lecturers, trips and socializing evenings in Wave Centre.

Winter English course on the top of the hill in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina

During one of the classes

In January 2010 Wave Projects organized the two weeks English Course in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The course took place in winter time and the church (New Hope Baptist Church) where the course was held is on the top of one hill in Tuzla. We were worried that due to snow and icy road many participants would give up on coming to the course. We were stunned to see that not only that they didn’t give up, but we had the most participants so far in Tuzla! We had full rooms and our only limiting factor was the size of the rooms where the course took place. We were excited that participants had a great time although the rooms were packed and that they were sitting basically shoulder to shoulder.
During the course Wave Projects organized an Open program with fun time as well as presentations of community projects in Europe and Africa.
